GeogChat Newsletter 6th March
This week's Geogchat will focus on International Women's Day! Join @Jennnnnn_x at 8pm on Wednesday 8th March.
Here are some resources that have caught our eye on twitter this week:
World population passes 8 billion: Here’s a lesson with a graph task displaying the increase from 1804 (1 billion) to 2022 (8 billion). Includes how to set up the graph paper! Lesson slides, videos and resources - see pinned tweet. #edutwitter #geography #geographyteacher
Another year of very healthy GCSE numbers would suggest that our KS3 curriculum both engages and challenges our students. Qs like 'What makes a country a country' have certainly helped this cause. Extracts from our 'Power of Geography' scheme for year 9. Who would like a copy?
Here is the link to the lesson for anybody who expressed an interest: 👇drive.google.com/file/d/1u0twiB… This is only one lesson in a scheme of 9 with a bespoke end of unit assessment. I will share some of the other key dimensions of this scheme soon as it is one of our most popular!

I do love a visualiser lesson, and the kids loved the result - ‘it’s very satisfying to draw a full page diagram’ said one student. Thanks to @Geo_Dougie for the idea and format. Glad I bookmarked your blog tweet! #geographyteacher
Check out my brand new video exploring the problems of defining development. Take a journey from post WW2 modernisation, through human development & HDI to sustainable development & the Planetary Pressure Adjusted HDI. #geographyteacher

Teach your impacts of ‘hazards’ within context of this - factors affecting vulnerability . (Geo-Mexico, Figure 7.2). The diagram suggests one general classification. #geographyteacher #geography physical factors include geology, relief and climate
All set to evaluate two MDGs with 6th form this week. Good chance to develop graph & map analysis skills. But, more importantly, a chance to expand pupils' understanding of the reason why, despite ongoing progress, the development gap remains - with significant consequences.
As well as exam specific resources, great for Year 11’s as the countdown to exams begins!
Excited to launch my "Last Minute Mocks" resource for pupils studying AQA GCSE Geography
